Our coats are designed to fit true to size with room for a sweater of medium thickness. If you regularly wear very thick sweaters or blazers underneath, consider sizing up. The XXS is engineered for women 5'1"–5'4" at a size 00/0. Most styles suit women 5'4"–6'. Individual coat lengths by size are on the full fit guide.

How to Measure

Standard Measurements

Bust
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, parallel to the floor. Keep it snug but not tight. Measure over a light layer.

Waist
Measure around your natural waist — the narrowest part of your torso, usually an inch or two above your belly button.

Hip
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, usually 7–9 inches below your natural waist, parallel to the floor.

Shoulder — Across the Back
With your arms relaxed at your sides, measure straight across the back from the edge of one shoulder to the other — from shoulder tip to shoulder tip. This is the measurement most likely to determine your size if you are between two sizes. A coat that fits at the shoulder will fit everywhere else. Please note, shoulder across back measurements are very different from shoulder across front measurements.

Sleeve Length — CB Neck to Wrist

Stand with your arm relaxed at your side, elbow slightly bent.

Place the tape at the prominent bone at the center back of your neck — where your neck meets your shoulders.

Run it across the top of your shoulder, down the outside of your arm, to your wrist bone.

We measure sleeve length from CB neck — not the shoulder seam — so your measurement matches our chart directly.

Coat Length — CB Neck to Hem

Stand straight with feet together.

Place the tape at the same prominent bone at the center back of your neck.

Run it straight down your back to where you'd like the coat to fall.

The Southport is a knee-length wool coat designed to fit the way a coat should — room to layer underneath, adjustable cuffs so you never need a tailor, horn-snap closure, reinforced with magnets so that is stays closed in wind. Made in Chicago from Climate Beneficial wool grown on regenerative American farms.

100% Wool - domestically grown and RWS + NATIVA Regen™ certified, woven in Connecticut, ethically sewn in Chicago, IL, this responsibly made fabric never leaves the United States from fiber to finish.
Fully lined in our signature a contrasting stripe lining (52% Rayon 48% Poly).
Features deep side pockets for all of your belongings, a large luxurious collar for added warmth, and adjustable cuffs so that you will not need to have your sleeves tailored.
The clean magnetic front closure reinforced with a single horn snap ensures that your coat will stay securely closed. Threaded belt loops for optional use. Belt loops can easily be snipped off for those who prefer a belt-free look.
Slight a-line shape allows for added room through the hips and retro feel.

My new Southport coat kept me warm on the coldest days of the recent subzero blast in Northern Ohio (-2 degrees/-20 wind-chill). I had a quilted liner from another coat ready to layer under it, but never needed it. Chicago-level warm indeed!

Finally— A proper coat!

I’d add extra stars if I could. After trying on dozens of coats over the last 2 years that were not quite right, including some really expensive ones, this one is perfect! It is properly cut and proportioned— no huge shoulders on the XL, but still room for a blazer underneath, and the sleeves are set properly so you can lift your arms without the whole coat lifting up. The wool is so soft without a hint of itch, and even the lining is a high quality fabric. Overall, the craftsmanship is impeccable. Worth every penny, and so happy to find a coat made in USA!!
