I’ve needed a good “go with anything” professional looking rain coat for a while and this parka checks all the boxes!

I love my new coat. The style is so classic, the wool is luxurious, the Bordeaux color is gorgeous and it is made in the USA. I was undecided between a small and medium because I like roomy coats that allow me to layer up. I went with the small and it is perfect. I still have plenty of room to layer up while it still fits nicely. My favorite part of the coat is the snap and magnetic closure! That is ingenious. I am so done with zippers and buttons! Many times the zippers give out way before the coat does and I dislike sewing buttons back on. This is a wonderful coat that I highly recommend.

I happened upon The Check Room by accident – looking for a swing coat. Best gift of the season. Stunning quality, selection, fabric, styles…that understated look I seek. Finally purchased the Belmont Blazer in Cherry! Have been looking at it for some time. It is a beautiful design and nice wool fabric. Sleeves can be cuffed for different arm lengths. The only downside is my timing in buying...the weather has warmed so I may not get to show it off until next cool season! Which will be fine as the design and style is timeless. I own two other wonderful designs from Liz and especially love my swing coat in camel.

The entire process of buying my coat - Southport XXS in navy blue - was very personal. I was concerned about what size to order since I normally wear petite sizes. Liz felt that in her experience, the XXS would work, and suggested that I could try an XS to see the coat and understand the fit and exchange for an XXS if that was clearly a better option. She was absolutely right. Furthermore, I thought I wanted my coat in burgundy, but liked the navy blue XS so well, I changed my mind.

Talk about a lifetime coat, I assumed from the price that it would be a well made coat but it really exceeded my expectations. Also the sizing is perfect, I’m normally a small/4 but I sized up so I could fit sweaters underneath, and its so comfortable! I love how equally stylish it is, since it’s handmade but also really functional and perfect for harsh winters - I’m in love!!

I have been on the hunt for a quality wool coat for a number of years, and I was over-the-moon when my husband surprised me with the camel Dearborn this last Christmas. I had emailed with Liz, the designer, earlier in the year. She was happy to tell me more about the fabric, answer some specific questions I had about the belt/construction, etc. I think it's pretty special that Liz communicates directly with her customers in this way!

My husband bought me a medium based on the size chart, but I ultimately decided to exchange it for a large, and Liz made the process super easy. As far as the coat itself: WOW. It met my every expectation (and then some)! The craftsmanship is unparalleled, the fabric equal parts soft and durable, the color and style timeless. I live in Minnesota, and have a high standard when it comes to outerwear. This coat is as functional (and warm) as it is elegant.

Please, do yourself a favor. Skip the cheap polyester coat. Don't feed the fast-fashion machine. I promise the Dearborn is worth every penny. This is fashion the way it was meant to be.
